Because Alan Grant is a paleontologist, his style reflects just that. His signature look is the one he wears blue denim shirt with a red handkerchief around his neck and his western style hat. From time to time, he will put on his dark sun glasses. This is certainly a look of a paleontologist in a field work.
About Alan Grant
Alan Grant played by Sam Neil is the main protagonist in the first and the third movie in the Jurassic Park franchise. In the first movie, John Hammond, the founder and CEO of the theme park has invited Alan and his partner at the time, Ellie Sattler, to his Jurassic park because of his famous work in paleontology, and he will grant Alan and his crew a further three years of dig funding.
Soon after Alan is caught in the middle of chaos along with other main characters. His character returned in Jurassic Park III, Alan is portrayed to lack of interested in dinosaur and even have a bit of anxiety towards them due to the outbreak episode he witnessed in the first movie. He is tricked to go back to the island by the Kirby, who are in fact a divorced couple, to search for their lost son.
